A Decade of Love and Awesome Ridiculousness

Ten years ago today, I made one of the best decisions of my life: to start dating this boy...

Not actually our earliest photo, but still back when we were young college kids :-)
He has made me a happier, more confident, and more interesting person, inspiring me to embrace so many experiences that I probably wouldn’t have had otherwise. (He even got me to go camping, which is a freaking miracle.) And he's always supported my individual interests too – even when that meant living in different states while I did grad school, helping me through all of the injuries I sustained from my overzealous love of sports, or trying to understand my very strange research and writing interests (*waves to my Renaissance medical books and my cannibalistic characters*). (He also puts up with the fact that I'm often late, kind of like how I didn't actually finish this post until the 23rd and then post-dated it. Shhhh.)

Together we've broken a world record, gotten married in a traditional-except-for-the-frisbee-and-Jurassic-Park-and-Rick-Rolling-parts wedding, ridden a tandem bicycle across the country, moved to our dream city on the opposite coast, adopted the world's cutest and goofiest puppy, and laughed over an embarrassing number of made-up songs, inside jokes, and bad puns.

Thank you for an absolutely fantastic decade, Kyle, and here's to many more.

Always ready for the frisbee

  1. Ahhhh-we celebrate your choice as well. (except for the far away part...but we'll manage.)

    1. I'll assume "manage" means "retire to nearby Sisters" ;-).

    2. The other half says Sisters would be boring long-term. Find out if they have a team-any sport.

    3. Yeah...nothing but cycling and a rodeo.

  2. Awww, so cute! Congrats :) I love to hear stories of other couples who met in college--people's eyes kind of fall out of their heads sometimes when I tell them we've been married for almost four years and I'm 27. But hey, when you know, you know, right? Here's to many more anniversaries :)

  4. Then - my husband and I met in college, too, and were friends until the end of our senior year when we actually started dating.

Now - we've been married almost fifteen years and are absolutely best friends. :)

Congratulations to you two! Enjoy each other and your lives together. :)

  5. My daughter is getting married on June 1st. I hope she will be as happy as you seem to be! Thanks for stopping by "begin...begin again." I always like it when someone comments!

    1. No problem - I love exchanging comments too. (Though I suppose it's unfortunate that I can always find something to comment about when the topic is the depressing state of education :-/). Thanks for stopping by here as well, and very best wishes to your daughter!!
