So it turns out that driving across the country, unpacking a bajillion boxes, finishing up work from my last job while applying for new jobs, and running all of my errands by bicycle instead of by car all take up a lot of time and energy.
I thought that by this point I would have pictures to share of my new office and Moroccan-inspired writing loft, but somehow I don’t think a mountain of boxes and an old foam mat would impress you.
I do have a pretty sweet alternative reading and writing spot though:
|I <3 you, new mini-garden and $16 Target hammock|
And in the interest of full disclosure, I would definitely be further along in unpacking and working if I hadn’t also spent time exploring local restaurants and sights. And taking bicycle rides with old friends. And rowing on the river with new friends. And maybe hiking to the top of a butte to watch tonight’s fireworks…
It's important to get to know and LOVE my new city though. Plus, from everyone’s warnings about the rainy fall/winter season, I’m obligated to enjoy this absolutely gorgeous weather while it lasts, right?
It’s better than being in the house, which is like a visual to-do list right now. A very cluttered and overwhelming to-do list with no end in sight.
I should probably just retreat to the hammock to regroup.
Seriously though, if I don’t finish unpacking and settling in soon I will go insane, so expect regular programming to return soon (whatever that actually means).
Happy 4th of July everyone!
